Joe Von Holtum, Guitarist

I’m Joe – a guitarist living and working in southwest Minnesota. My focus these days is classical and jazz because I’m interested in the guitar as a solo instrument and those two approaches offer great opportunities for study.

I’ve played with Porch Swing, a regional hot club jazz ensemble that is sporadically active with various musicians. I’ve also created a few of my own hot club jazz projects with whoever was interested – it’s not usually a hard sell! You can find some of my work with them linked below.

These days I’m available to work for you as a solo guitarist and occasionally have a little combo project that may be available.

You can find me playing with Porch Swing here – this was recorded at the Friends of Traditional Music Festival outside of Canton, South Dakota. You can find more Porch Swing here from an event in Rapid City, South Dakota. In both videos, I’m the one wearing blue and hanging out near the upright bass.
